I always played the dismount games and thought they were great, but I hadn't discovered this one until just recently and I'm more hooked than I ever was with dismounting! What does everybody think about the game? How are your high scores looking? Mine are attached:

I got my level 1 time down by .30 and got level 2 done in less than 5s! Does nobody else play this game and/or have high scores to share?

:( nobody else seems to like this game.

Instead, I will issue a challenge. I've honed my top scores about as well as I can, so I challenge anyone (excluding those involved in developing the game) to beat my scores!

Note: I accidentally uploaded a less-than-complete scorecard. I've uploaded my best scores (you may be able to see why I stopped trying to improve them!).

Well,
I like the game very much, my score in U-Turn is better but the other levels are... too difficult for me to beat you up ;)
Do you now something about a third character to play? I`m not sure but I thought to hear something about it...

Here is my score:

Here are my results:

Just ˝ a sec from Super in Level 2...I don't get it. So I'm supposed to make the first jump low but still high enough to be able to lean forward for a max power jump after that...? And under 3 seconds in Level 1 seems pretty amazing.

Edit: Lev 4 Supered! 4 to go...

In L2, you can do it on the first bounce.

In L1, I found it easier to bounce once and tip a bit, then go on the second bounce.

Haven't managed to tilt enough for first jump in L2 yet...and I guess I'll have to fine-tune my angle in L1 :)

Edit: Maybe partially an issue about aerodynamics?

Pogo Sticker physics don't have any real aerodynamics in there. However, there's global "damping" of movement which makes things more stable and makes things decelerate (just a very little bit).

Yay, L1 supered as well! Cheeser1, about L2: I assume you meant the first "proper" bounce (which you can fully control) after the first "compulsory" one? L2 in really one bounce goes beyond my logic...

Edit: L2 super 0:02:43!
Edit2: L8 U-Turn 0:08:44! Lots of luck and hammering involved though :P

By the way Jetro, do you have our times beat? ;)

I'm afraid I lost my own high score file at some point a year or two ago when switching computers.. :(

It's similar for the Dismount games. Sometimes I'm asked what are my own high scores and I honestly don't know. When developing, the game gets tested a lot and I don't really look into scores that much because little changes to the game can affect scores anyway, so they might not really be comparable to the scores from final version.

By the time a game gets finished, it's typical that I have already played it so much that I don't play with the final version nearly as enough. =)

For Pogo Sticker I did play the final version quite a lot though. It was a bit different experience from the usual, because the game was almost finished when I got the levels (most were created by friends). So I really wanted to play the levels since they were as new to me as for anybody!

I do have a question about the music in Pogo Sticker: Is it downloadable? I managed to open the patterns but I can't find the samples. And yes, I know that OXM is a XM file with OGG encoded samples, but I can't find a single program (except for the game itself) that doesn't give me static (http://www.mpsq3.net/static.wav) sounds.

You mean noise sounds? (link 404) It's not totally terrible that way either btw... :) Pretty weird that seemingly no one's come up with a working OXM player, or at least one that works with these files. Maybe there's something different with the game's OXMs, since many players are reported to have support for XM with Ogg [Vorbis] compressed samples.

Edit: You can always record the music with the "What U Hear" function in your sound card. Might be named differently in non-Creative cards. Encoding an MP3 out of it will technically be transcoding, but I don't think it'll be anything catastrophical.

I forgot to record the sound :D
From what I've seen, there are 9001 OXM players, all of them gave me the same result. I can even open the OXM itself with ModPlug Tracker and I get exactly the same. Maybe this isn't the OXM we all think it is?

I was gonna use that for the noise sounds, but I forgot :)
Also, recording it isn't the same, because of the loop probably being different, but yeah, it could be done.

Anyways, I'll be messing with the game. I can see that the game uses FMOD, which claims to be able to play OXM sounds (I think the format originated from there). I'm gonna try to write a simple application that plays an OXM file, if I get it working, I'll release it here.

No, actually, I got it on one bounce. You have to sneak in at a really perfect angle. I "supered" it by going on the first hop, skidding on ice, and then hitting the target zone -- but then playing around, I managed to get it in one bounce. Just got the perfect angle I guess.

I believe my high scores are something worth bragging about. I have attached them to this post.

I'm open to suggestions on how to beat "Sewers" any faster. That level is the hardest one in my opinion...not sure how to manage it. So of all my scores, that ones pretty ugly.

I have been able to improve some of my scores even more...see attached.

I just posted in my home page's pogo sticker section the original FMP files of Pogo Sticker, with a bit of instructions on how to make levels, if somebody wants to have fun. You have to replace existing levels though, there's no way to add new ones to the list.

Here's the quoted message of the original post, including the link:

Here’s FMP files of the original levels and some old notes.txt file describing stuff, which I originally as info for to-be-level-authors:
http://jet.ro/files/pogosticker_FMP_files.zip
I think that should be all you need to make new levels (just read the notes.txt carefully!).

Note that I think some levels may have a few level-specific things hardcoded in the game. There’s no way to customize these without editing source code and recompiling the game. Also there’s no code which would “look for” new levels, so the only way to use new levels is to replace the .MAP files of existing levels.

Oh thanks, I never figured out how to exactly make a level. Time to start mapping for this too! :)
